Alisal River Course is just south of Mission Drive on Alisal Road, the spectacular River Course is situated on the banks of the Santa Ynez River against a backdrop of the Santa Ynez Mountains. Four lakes grace the championship course, part of the famous 10,000 -acre Alisal Ranch resort. Sycamores, elderberry trees and oaks punctuate the setting. Par is 72 on each of four sets of tees designed to challenge golfers of any skill level; the championship course is 6,830 yards. Services are full-range while a rustic restaurant and lounge awaits finishers. Nearby, the shops and attractions of Solvang delight non-golfers. River Course at the Alisal

The River Course at the Alisal presents golfers with breathtaking panoramas of the brilliant hues of the foothills and the Santa Ynez Mountains and Valley. The Course features four lakes and often follows the meandering path of the Santa Ynez River. Gentle mounds define the manicured fairways and bentgrass greens accented by mature live oaks, native sycamores and elderberry trees, creating a "must play" golf experience for all.
At 6,830 yards, the Par 72 layout is challenging but not punishing. The strategic placement of a variety of hazards rewards length & accuracy without severely penalizing recreational golfers. The moderate central California climate and meticulous golf course maintenance provide excellent year-round playing conditions. The fairways appear wide, but mounding along the sides requires accuracy to avoid sidehill lies. Elevated tees offer sweeping vistas of the fairways below, while the greens are large with moderate undulations that roll consistent and true.

La Purisima Golf Course

With the invaluable help of golf course architect Robert Muir Graves, Kenneth Hume Hunter, Jr. set out in 1986 to develop the finest pure test of golf he could imagine. It started with a great place - 309 acres of gently rolling, oak studded, ancient sand hills 30 miles north of Santa Barbara. Mr. Hunter developed it much like his other nationally acclaimed courses (Sandpiper Golf Course in Goleta and Hunter Ranch in Paso Robles), with no commercial development or housing surrounding the golf course land. His courses are built for pure golf.
Playing La PurisimaAnd pure golf is what you get. A challenging test of skill and character, La Purisima rewards the bold and leaves the recently-hooked newcomer loving the game even more. It is beautiful in its naturally undulating landscape. Challenging in its hole design. And with tees never far from their preceding greens, a remarkably enjoyable walk.
